ROM

ROM refers to Read Only Memory. This is a small quantity storage media used in computers and other electronic devices. Since data stored in ROMs cannot be modified, it is used to distribute firmware by the hardware manufacturers. Now we have options of erasing content written on ROMs but the original types of ROM are still used in a sense where data once written cannot be erased from it.
ROMs are used to store permanent code on it which has not to be altered and this feature of them has been extremely successful in using them in all sorts of electromechanical devices which required a robust form of memory. Classic mask-programmed ROM
chips are integrated circuits that physically encode the data to be stored, and thus it is impossible to change their contents after fabrication. ROMs are generally made up of semiconductor material.
